I did not know they compared Oxycontin to Heroine. No wonder why it is so highly addictive. I have been in a lot of pain do to Primary Hyperparathyroidism. I have had to take pain killers at night so that I can sleep. Since I have stomach issues, I have to be cautious. Oxycodone I asked for the lowest dosage to see if I was allergic to it. The dosage was too low to be effective for me. I asked to change to another pain killer instead. I went to a preoperative meeting last week. The anesthesiologist discussed medications with me and wanted to give me Oxycodone. I find it alarming that it is still the pain killer of choice considering the article above.
