Why breast density matters…

I think finding a lump in your breast is one of the scariest things. My mother in law pulled me aside 20 odd years ago on Christmas. We were visiting for the holidays. My mother in law ask me what I thought about a large lump in her breast… It shocked me to find out that she had not been to a gynecologist since her youngest child was born. She  had never had a breast examination. She was terrified of loosing her breast.  I made appointment immediately with the best doctor I could find in her area. It was breast cancer. Luckily a lump-ectomy was all that was required, chemotherapy and radiation. Thank God she is alive today and Cancer free.

10 years ago one of my girlfriends talked to me about lumps in both breast that she had for some time. She was already a cancer survivor ( Thyroid cancer). She was terrified to go to the Doctors. She must have had dense breast, because her mammograms results showed she was clear of tumors. The test were wrong. She had to have a double mastectomy. I was there through it with her.  She is cancer free today.

Sometimes we need the support of a friend or family member to seek medical attention. Cancer is a scary word. It does not have to mean death. Please read the article below because it could save your life or someone you love!
