Last night’s rain

Fall is here. It was like the weather changed over night. You could feel a chill in the wind. It started raining over a week ago. Then yesterday another storm front moved in with high winds and torrential rains. The picture above is or normally our neighbor’s lawn is now a pond.We could not believe our eyes this morning, when we looked out the window. Look how much it rained last night.

This is my new flower bed that Miss Piggy keeps eating my new roses off my bushes and digging up my flowers. It is also the one I keep chasing her around. It survived the rains with no signs of damage. I am happy to report.

Our vegetable patch was not so lucky. Onions are laying down and the lettuce was blown over. This part of the garden is standing in water and yet the corn was completely unscathed. Who can figure how that is possible? Roads  washed out and farmers are stressing over their fall harvests being destroyed. The rain is hindering the farmers from harvesting their  crops. We have had over a week of hard rains. Last night storm was unusually intense. More rain in the forecast for the rest of the week.

  1. Your gardens are lovely, Honey! I’m glad to hear that some things survived torrential rains. Weather these days is so unpredictable!

    • Thanks Carol for the lovely compliment. I agree with you the weather changes we are experiencing are our new reality. This June was wet and cold. We had torrential rains that often washed out our road. We had mice that came in from the fields. We usually get them in the late fall and we mouse proof our house for the winter season. I found a salamander crawling in our basement to hibernate for the winter. It is almost 4-6 weeks early. We have a tree with red berries that the birds feed off during the winter. When the trees are heavy with berries, you know we are going to have a harsh winter. I think we are going to have a harsh winter this year.
