BBQ Grill upgrade

We had a guest last week visiting us. Hubby pulled out his grill to clean it  and the bottom of it literally fell out of it. He called me to the patio. I was busy in the kitchen doing prep work for our BBQ. I came out and laughed at it, when I saw this pathetic looking grill.

We tried to figure out what to do. We tried fitting a rectangular pan in the bottom, but we had nothing that would fit. I asked him if we had any one time grills left that we could lay on the bottom of the grill to pour charcoal in it. We use them for picnics for hotdogs…. We did but it was too small so he reshaped two one time grills and laid them on the bottom. It worked. It was obvious it was time to toss this grill.

I listen to him complain that evening about the grill being too small and too short… He needed to find a decent grill that was big enough for company… We had grilled ribs, filet mignon and grilled vegetables on shish-kebabs sticks. He had to grill the food in shifts. He missed his old grill ( large round grill with lid). He had been eyeing the barrel model for sometime….

When we drove our guest to town to catch the train home, we went early to do some window shopping. Hubby was at the grocery store, when my friend and I ran into a shop. This shop had a large BBQ center in it, that was new this summer. I had not been in the shop all summer. They had a large variety and varying price ranges. I found this beauty below. I knew hubby would love this. I called him on the phone and asked him to meet me at the shop.

He came inside and saw this beauty. His eyes lite up.    I asked the sales woman if this was their last one in stock? She said yes it was. The sales woman said it had been a really popular model this season. Hubby said we will wait until they have their clearance sale.  I thought that it didn’t hurt to ask her to drop the price. I pointed out they must be going on sale for the end of the season clearance soon. This is their display model and the last one in stock would she consider giving us a rebate? Believe it or not she dropped the price another 25% off on the spot. I said sold. I wish you could have seen how happy hubby was because he was adorable. He was like a little boy on Christmas.

When we got home he asked me to  call some friends and invited them over for  a BBQ the next day to break in his new grill. Hubby was thrilled with the price and BBQ grill model. Christmas was early this year.

  1. What a lovely story and what a fabulous grill. Clearly cooking with fire is an elemental, manly thing to do. I am so glad that it brought him so much joy!

    • Hi Karen,
I love normally love spring and summer season because I do minimal cooking. Hubby grills all the time. When we lived in the big city we had guest over for BBQ a few times a week. Everyone pitched in on the food and we made it a huge pot luck. We have been living the quiet life since we moved here. Last year We didn’t grill because I was sick and couldn’t eat a lot of our normal diet. This August and September has been more of back to normal for us. Hubby is quite a fantastic cook on the Grill.

Welcome to TIP. ABC, CBS, NBC and all the cable news channels are all bought and paid for and report what they are told to report. The MSM lies to and instigates people into political argument and gossip that leads to dead-end roads and distracts from the real issues. There is much better informational news reporting away from the Democrat and Republican tail-spinning arguments that are usually rooted in confusion and hate.. TIP is your alternative.
