Cornucopia Yoghurt Report contradicts FDA findings

It amazes me  more and more what is going on with food politics in the USA. Then I realize these dilemmas are not simply isolated to the USA market, but they are a  world-wide problem. Is the yogurt your eating actually as healthy as you think? You might be surprised that the pasteurization and homogenization process of the yogurt kills all the probiotic cultures, which are so beneficial to your digestive tract. Then food coloring, fructose sugars and preservatives are added that are not healthy for you. That is why it is so important to know how your food is prepared and what ingredients are in it. Now I understand why people are talking about Kefir and making your own yogurt.

  1. I did a short nutrition course at the beginning of the year, which highlighted quite a few hairy facts about our food. As it happens, I heard years ago that the only way to buy yoghurt was plain. That said, I don’t do that very often now either because it is packaged in plastic😞.

    • We heard that as well a few years ago. We add our own fruit and sweeten it with honey. We cook with yogurt.It is important for my digestion. I reuse the plastic containers to store left overs in the refridgerator. Do you write into the companies to use recyclable containers? Sweden recycles plastics at our recycling centers.

      • That is a good point: I could write to the companies and ask them to change their packaging. But then I also try to avoid supermarkets and commercially produced food ……

      • I have complained to the store that is buying produce packaged in bags and plastic packaging.I thought I should complain to the companies. It can not hurt.It is time consuming though, but I could just write a form letter and insert the name of the product and company and Email it. It wouldn’t take that long.

  2. Yogurt is a fermented or culture food provides good bacteria for your digestion. But adding sugar to the yogurt defeats the purpose, as candida love sugar.
