July 20th garden update.
Our first ever cauliflower harvest. We were able to harvest this much despite the caterpillar infestation. We lost a couple because we didn’t watch close enough, that they were ripe and should have been picked earlier. Next time we will know when to harvest them.
Onions, lettuces, spinach and scallion onions are doing great.
As you can see the corn, borlotti beans, peas, string beans are looking fantastic. We have ears of corn on two rows. Those to rows were planted inside the house and transplanted outside. The other two rows were sown directly into the grown they are 2-3 feet tall. They have no tassels or ears of corn yet. The difference between rows is startling. We will be planting corn inside the house in early spring from now on to insure a good harvest.
We are so very pleased. We are already harvesting peas and string beans. I am hoping the borlotti beans dry on the vines themselves, thanks to our warm weather.
