July 13th pictures of garden

Borlotti bean are looking great.

Coco and Dixie our dogs love the fresh vegetables and fruit as well.

Lettuces and spinach are doing great. The second batch we planted is just coming up right now.

These are two pictures taken at different times of the tomatoes. It shows how much they have grown. The tomato plants are bursting at the seams with tomatoes.

The peas have just went crazy. We have harvested 12 lbs of Mangold(chard) and 5 Lbs of spinach today. We gave some to three different neighbors. I had to laugh because the men had no idea what  mangold was and all the woman did. I told my husband to ask the woman not the men because I knew that would be the case. He was surprised how excited all the woman were to have some and all of them knew how to use it.

We picked our first red tomato yesterday. We finally have succeeded with tomatoes. Hurrah!! We picked the first peas yesterday. We are tickled pink at the harvest we are seeing right now. We are going to have a large assortment of vegetables stored for winter. Gardening doesn’t get better than that.

  1. I so love your Borlotti beans, I have never grown them but I adore their patterned pods! Dixie and Coco are beautiful dogs and I can just see how they love you- I can see it in their eyes.
Your garden is amazing, you deserve many, many congratulations!

    • You should try and grow some Borlotti beans in a coche or mini poly tunnel. I have to agree with you the pods are gorgeous but Magenta is one of my favorite colors.

Dixie and Coco are good dogs. They love peas and strawberries the best out of the garden.

Thanks for the compliment on the garden.

  2. Everything growing so well!
I love the pics of Coco and Dixie – such beautiful wise old eyes.

    • I am amazed it has done so well because of the dry spell we had here. The weather is more normal now. We still have warm temperatures but we have rainy days inbetween. The harvesting has begun. It feels great to have such a harvest as a reward for all our work.

Dixie is 10 years old and Coco is 18 months. Thanks Jardin for the nice comments.

  3. I am really impressed with your garden and harvest. Are the borlotti beans covered? I would be interested in growing them but only if they can grow outside.

If only my tomatoes and lettuce were doing so well 🙂

    • The borlotti beans are uncovered in the former Potato upraised bed. This is our second year of growing them. We planted 4 rows. The rows have grown together so it is difficult to see that in the pictures. They were so delicious that we wanted to plant more of them this year. I would think if we can grow them in Sweden that you would be able to grow them where you live.

Thanks for the compliment on our garden and harvest. I am really flattered. I am hoping and praying that the tomatoes will ripen in the poly tunnel and green house this year. It will be a huge improvement. We have been putting a chicken shit and water to fertilize them once a week when they are flowering. We have also put eggshells and coffee grounds around the bottom of the plants. We have had a hard time finding the ratio of water to poop. We were worried that we would burn the plants. We got the chicken poo from a neighbor for free.
I got all these tomato fertilizing tips from other bloggs.

  4. PS I wondered what mangold was too!

  5. Look at your adorable puppies! Boy you have been busy with growing and photographing and posting! Well done you! Keep it up!

Welcome to TIP. ABC, CBS, NBC and all the cable news channels are all bought and paid for and report what they are told to report.
