Sprucing up our Entry!

entry1

I had planned to plant my spices and herbs in the front flower bed but there was no space left for them. I planted them in our entry of our house in pots. I think this is the nicest that my entry has been since we moved in here. I always intend to plant flowers in the pots every year here, but it seems I never find the time. I usually have these on the front patio. This is more practical. I think it looks more inviting and welcoming. We are slowly making our mark on the place.

  1. Lovely idea Honey! My front is north(ish) facing so I wonder if I did that if the herbs would thrive?

    • My front stoop is south facing. I have found that you have to give it a try to see if the plants like it. The cement gives off heat and helps them. I have found that sometimes you have to move plants around untill you find the place that they like. I have 5 aloe vera plants. I have moved the to every room of my house. They like the west facing windows in the house, but in my last apartment they like the east facing window. They are going crazy right now. I need to break the plants apart now because they all have out grown their pots. I am going to have to give away some of them because I have run out of room in my house.

      • I agree about favoured places. Seedlings seem to do better on my northish facing windowsills. Maybe they just get too hot on the south side!

      • I don’t know if it is that they get too hot. We have handblown lead window paynes in our home. They are like magnifying glasses in the summer sun. I remove the plants from the window sill when they are getting direct sunlight. Other wise the just wilt. I put them back in the windows afterwards.

      • That sounds a good thing to do!
