Fats you need?
I have become a real big fan of Mother earth News.I read another article about the nutritional benefits of lard and fats from grass-fed pigs earlier which was a real eye opener. That explains why The Vikings to present day Sweden find pork so important part of our diet. It gives us supplements that we don’t get from the sun during our dark winters. It just reinforces food lore/traditions are important to follow. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the exact article. I hope that you enjoyed this.

I have been looking for a recipe on how to render lard. We buy a half a pig every year. Now I can render fat for myself. We usually put it out for the wild birds during the winter time.

Nice to feed the birds in winter!
We have three different kinds of bird feeders. We hang the fat on a nail on a tree in our yard. What cracks me up is when the cheeky little things bang on our kitchen window when the feeders have run out.We love to watch the birds. That includes our dogs as well. Lol

Cheeky indeed but so sweet 🙂
